If you want to sell your items via online auction listings, a good plan is to sell what people are already eagerly seeking to buy there.

And just as in any other marketplace, what auction shoppers are looking for varies throughout the year.

Fast-selling online auction items also tend to reflect current trends in technology, lifestyle, fashion and entertainment.

One of the best tools for determining what sells well on eBay is the free eBay Pulse - "a daily snapshot of current trends, hot picks, and cool stuff":

eBay Pulse shows what's currently hot - popular searches, the largest eBay stores, and the most-watched auction listings.

Use the "Category" drop-down menu near the top of the Pulse page to find what's currently moving quickly there in your product niche.

Another tool for determining currently popular auction items is eBay's Popular Items page:

Here you can click around through categories and sub-categories to discover what's selling well on eBay in all sorts of mini-niches (including many you may not have thought of!) related to your products.

I recommend using both of these tools - eBay's Pulse and Popular Items - to research the online auction marketplace.

And even if you're not selling in online auctions, they're still a great way to tap into what people are seeking to buy online right now, related to your product line!

So whether you sell your items via auction listings, a marketplace website, your own website - or even offline, you can spot important trends by keeping track of what sells well on eBay in your market niche.
