Twenty Thou Sampler Red Hot Earrings Day at the Zoo Pendant (with a little rider on the giraffe's back!) Anti-Bling Coconut Ring

Hello my name is Nicold Pittman. I'm a web / graphic designer based in Chicago, who also enjoys working with my hands. I also teach web and design courses at a college here.

I love making jewelry, I especially love looking for unique, funky, cool beads and findings that can make my work stand out. I've been making jewelry for myself and friends for years now off and on.

Finally decided to put my crafting skills to use.

"TwentyThou.com" is what I'm calling my own personal bailout. Between student loans / medical bills / and "I'm an idiot" credit card debt, my shoulders are very sore from the burden.

I've seen many sites over the years where people have successfully gotten out of debt by asking strangers on the internet for money. Sort of a virtual panhandler.

But I believe in hard work, and would prefer a hand up instead of a hand out, and in today's economy I'd feel better making my craftiness work for me instead of begging for money.

There are people out there that definitely need charity more than I - and I will even link you to a few.

My goal over the next few years is to sell approximately 20,000 items handmade by me at prices ranging from $5 - $30 each, with the majority of items costing $10. This will allow me to pay off all my debt, and will allow my customers to have new and unique items.

Thanks for letting me share my story!

I agree - what a neat strategy for getting out of debt. And I'm sure it feels good to approach it in such a positive and creative way!

I love your work - the little person on the giraffe pendant is an adorable idea!

I too an in insurmountable debt from student loans, dumb credit card debt and taxes from a business I owned 3 years ago. It stinks.
I am a print graphic designer and love your web site. Can you teach virtually? lol
I need some updates on web design. I graduated college at the beginning of the web and haven't had the time to take classes to catch up.
Your earrings are really cute. Great idea!

Not to rain on your parade but good luck in getting your website found. I think you are going to be hugely disappointed, but I still wish you the best of luck!

I think it's a great idea. just add a blog, facebook& a free photo site and don't forget to tweet your peeps

Thanks all for your comments and encouragement, LOL, I have done some private lessons before, so I may be able to work. I've been tweeting, I have a page on Facebook, and so far it's been friends and family purchasing, but I'm getting visitors from Google searches and other sites so far, haven't had a huge influx of sales, but a little at a time is better than none, so I'm happy so far, it may take a really long time to reach my goal, but I will reach it somehow. I do need to add a blog though, that may be coming soon.

Great idea!
