Tuscan Road Designs ... How It All Began

Amazonite Bracelet with Labradorite, Kyanite and Sterling

It's just me, that normal, everyday gal: married, two boys (one high school, one college). I wear multiple hats: mom, wife, two jobs. I do my hobbies, I travel, I dream of retirement someday.

In the meantime, my "therapy" is my jewelry business and It has unleashed the creative side of me.

My name is Holly. It all began with a trip to Murano, Italy. After touring the glass and bead factories on this island, I was hooked.

Upon returning home, I promptly signed up for a Lampwork class at the local glass store to learn how to make my own beautiful beads.

I then taught my teenage son how to do it, and that became a great bonding time for us.

After numerous mistakes and many successful beads later, I decided to start incorporating them into my jewelry designs, thus the beginning of Tuscan Road Designs.

I love to work with color and texture, Swarovski Crystal, the natural beauty of Semi Precious Gemstones and vintage and found objects.

Many of my pieces have an eclectic, asymmetrical style. I have consistently been inspired during my numerous world travels, always keeping an eye out for the beautiful and unusual bead or idea that helps make these one-of-a-kind creations so unique.

Tuscan Road Designs was born as a vehicle to allow me to showcase these special designs so others may enjoy them as much as I enjoy creating them.

Artsy and Attractive!
by: Kim I

Hi Holly:

I enjoyed reading your story about how you got "hooked" on beads (wouldn't we all love to visit the Swarovski bead company in Austria?) I really like your bracelet creation, the soft colors and natural effect of the natural gemstones. I wish you success in your business!

Hi Kim,
Thanks so much for your kind comments. Oh, I can't even imagine how awesome that would be to visit the Swarovski factory....that could be quite dangerous!
Best of luck to you and thanks again!
Holly

Lucky:)!!

Someday I dream of going to visit the Murano Glass factory. You are very lucky to be able to travel and incorporate your family into your hobby. How cool that your son enjoys working with glass too. I have high respect for jewelry artists who make their own beads because when they use it in their jewelry, it feels more, I dunno how to explain it, closet to the artists soul or More of their expression than bought beads.I make my own beads out of polymer clay but would love to make metal or glass someday.
