Too Busy Living Life!

by Trish Kolaski

I have a fairly profitable jewelry business, but also own a full time piano studio and am a part time music teacher in a private school! That combined with keeping up with my husband, house, 2 cats and dog keeps me from having time to actively pursue growing my jewelry business.

hire help
by: nupur arora

The perception of a fairly good jewelry business and actually having the volume that you cannot handle single handedly are two different scenarios.Crunch some numbers and see if realistically your business is at a level where it is ready to take on an employee or two. then it may be your decision to either give up one of your other committments to make time to cater to your growing business or it might be prudent to hire someone, perhaps an intern/part time employee to take care of the mundane stuff- paperwrk, shipping and receiving etc so that you can be incharge of those aspects of your business that you enjoy most, like creating new pieces etc.
Try to find a happy balance with what YOU enjoy most and what must absolutely get done to keep the business on track and with some help you will enjoy the process more than the stress that comes with it. If your employee is trained right, managing is not that hard.
One piece of advice, DO not hire any friends or relatives :)!

And, you know something? so many of the jewelry designers/entrepreneurs would give anything to be in your situation where they have a business that is going in the right direction, so enjoy and all the best!
Wishing you much more success and lots of balance in the new year!

Prioritize

Think about where you want to be in a few years and which of your current activities are most rewarding to you. Consider cutting back on the teaching hours or phasing them out in favor of your jewelry business.
