I love to shop from jewelry artists' websites. The things I find there are items I'd never see in a store - which is exactly why I buy them.
I want to wear and give unique things.
However, I do have to admit that several times when I've bought handmade jewelry for a gift for someone - I fell in love with the piece and couldn't give it away after all! So some of these pieces have gone into my own collection, and I love them, although I do feel a little guilty for keeping them myself.
In my experience, people love to receive handmade jewelry as a gift, especially when the artist sends it in some sort of pretty or artistic packaging. When the artist packages it, it feels and looks like a particularly special gift.
I've always had really good experiences with shopping from jewelry artists' websites, and one of the best things about the Internet is that I can even shop from jewelry artists who live in other states.
