Taking your Advice - Creating My Own Website

My First Herringbone Weave

My First Herringbone Weave

My First Herringbone Weave Copper and Feldspar Earrings

I have acted on some of the great business suggestions posted on this site and want to say Thanks!

I am relatively new to the jewelry business, my husband and I set up an Etsy site and have been working as much as we can; posting new items and updating the photos but our sales are on the slow side.

I even increased the prices thinking that maybe our prices were too low? What made me think of lowering the prices was the cost for shipping, who wants to buy $7.00 earrings and then pay $5.00 shipping - that really isn't a deal.

I have taken your advice and purchased a domain name of our business name and added links to our Etsy site and the jewelry blog I created plus an "About us" page telling our story. I don't get any hits on the blog, but I am trying to keep it up, I am starting to get key words significance from Google Webmaster tools. That's a plus.

So, I was hoping to get some constructive feedback on the website I just created:

http://deltaradiance.com .

Let me know what you think and if it needs improvements.

by: pat barden

hey--nice sight--very nice--ilike the full--but not stuffed home page--ilike it so much--im gogoing to re-do my own. ireally like that you tell a bit about yeself right there, and have your latest creations right there also--front page--though furthur below the shop link. ihave a page with my latest creations, which one can buy right from my site, but not everything there--ihave an artfire link for that. youve down a great job--very professional--you should be quite proud of it.

Nice and Fresh!

I love the fresh, clean look of your site and the fact that you also have a link to your Etsy shop. So many people are famliar with Etsy and the feedback benefit. The blog is well done and I also like the "About Us" section giving your customers a little insight to your lives. Very fresh, clean, crisp and pleasing. Nice job!

Looks Great!

Hi Michelle,
I think the website looks great. It is easy to click on the links to your Etsy listings. The about us page is perfect! Good luck with the business.

Only comment that I would like to make is: I found the color and font type on your about us page a little hard to read. I think it should be darker color and easier to read font type. I love all the photos also and not just showing what you make. Having said that, would you like to set mine up. lol

Beautiful

Well, I checked out your website & blog after reading the other peoples comments. I thought they're all so complimentary, but that's not really helpful, these folks are looking for constructive critizism. But ya know what? they are all right! You did a wonderful job! just 1 ? Did ya ever think of selling your photos? they're amazing! Maybe even start a business photographing others jewelry for their sites & brochures. Just a thought.

Thank you for your feedback
by: Michelle

Thank you all so much for the feedback! I am so pleased that you took the time to check out the site and my confidence has been boosted :)

As for the photography, I have been taking pictures for 30 years now and have thought about selling them, (maybe) but there is always the fear of rejection...it's funny how we can be with our art. Making jewelry has opened up a whole new type of photography for me. Thank you all for the compliments.

A few notes on the site creation: I used iWeb on a Macintosh and inserted the HTML code from Etsy's live feed to get the "Current Listings" section. The best part is that the feed updates when I post new items to Etsy so I only have to update one site.

feedback on website

Hi there,

your website is fabulous. Love your "beachy looking jewelry and beachy backdrops in your photos, very hip.

Your prices are great and so are your designs.

There are two things I would consider:

The goofy head bobble photos of your hubby and you to me at a first glance did not appear as professional or serious as your website. To me the photo takes away from the beauty of your work. In some way it belittles the craft of your work.

The second feedback is to make a few chunckier pieces for bigger women as most of your designs seem delicate.

Forf what it's worth, I was being honest. But I do really like your work and website. It is well laid out and professionally done.

great photos
by: Marlies

I do love your designs and the way that you photographed them. Keep up the good work and good luck on your business. It is really wonderful that our Creator can bless each one of us with this talent and we all come out making different and beautiful jewelry. He knows that if we did the same designs, none of us would be successful.

Hi, I latched onto the photography too. I am not sure if you know of the online sites where you can upload your photos and put your price on them and each download of that photo gains you some $$$. You have to be accepted on the better sites, but seeing your photos it is sure you will be. iStock is one site that comes to mind where a friend of mine sold his photos. Did quite well also. www.istockphoto.com/sell-stock-photos.php

Good luck and great work!

I took a quick look since I have a demanding toddler behind me as I type. My first impression is clean. Makes me want to remove some items on my page.
I also can't believe YOU HAVE BOBBLEHEADS OF YOURSELVES!!!! Where did you get them? So cool:)
The photography is amazing. I am a mac person so I can tell it was made with Iweb. It does a wonderful job for starting out.
The only thing is that you should put a "back" button or "home" button at the end of every page so the viewer doesn't hit their back button and accidentally leave your page forever and is returned to the beginning of your site.
I think I actually have to take my advice and finish doing that to my site!!
