Starting a Jewelry Blog

© by Dee Gordon; all rights reserved

As I've embarked on the road to relaunching my jewelry business and promoting another business, I had to find a way to reach out to my customers in ways other than monthly sales and promotions.

I also had to find avenues to bring in new customers. In trying to decide how and what to do, I began seeing many business articles on blogging.

Having no idea of what this involved, I researched other businesses and finally started a blog of my own, Runako Designs by Dee, in July.

While I wait on my upcoming jewelry website to be finished, I'm noticing that my blog list is growing and I hope they are anticipating the grand opening of my website!

I knew I didn't want to blog about just jewelry, but about other areas of interest to my targeted market as well. So I decided that my blog would feature updates about my business, sales and promotions - but also include articles on fashion and jewelry tips, party ideas, and things that they just had to know.

But in doing this, I also wanted to make sure that each article kept my Runako Designs fresh in their minds.

I also signed up for Google Analytics so that I can track my blog visitors and where the traffic is coming from. This is a great tool for websites as well.

In addition to all of this, I've added my URL to my emails, subscriptions and online groups to drive traffic to my blog. I've even started doing more social networking online as Rena has suggested and watched my subscriptions grow.

The last advice I have to offer is that when you're writing your blog, it's very important to include keywords in your articles so that browsers will pick up on it and bump it further up on their list. I've had to do no additional marketing in this department, just by being careful in my choice of words.

And don't forget to link to other blog friends.

I'm looking forward to seeing what all my efforts will do for the launching of my jewelry website. I've enjoyed writing articles for my blog visitors and coming up with new and creative ideas to tie jewelry in with things you just have to know - like chocolate and jewels, recipes and home parties, wedding tips and trends and more.

If you don't have a blog yet, it's a must if you want to grow your business online.
