"Chere Maman" (Dear Mama) charm bracelet kit by Nostalgems

My Facebook page is where most of my customer interaction takes place.

I'm a Facebook junkie and whilst I have a blog, I get more feedback from customers through my Facebook updates.

I hold regular jewelry/kit giveaways to customers, announce special deals, add new items or simply ramble about stuff.

It's a great way to stay connected with customers.

They feel that I am more of a friend rather than a snobbish jewelry designer.

I love facebook, but just have a personal, not business page. I have so many questions about having a business page.
How do you set it up and how does it work?
Do you need a big following to start or just a few?
How do you get more followers?
How do you get follows to become customers?
How often do you post?

Maybe someone can direct me to a good source to get some answers.
Thanks.

Hi Linda, it took me months to get into Facebook as I thought it was just for college students but boy was I wrong!

Firstly get a Facebook Page. You can see my facebook page here http://facebook.nostalgems.com and scroll down and you click the link "Create a Page for My Business" and follow the instructions.

I hold regular contests where I give away some of my creations and jewelry kits. This keeps page fresh and exciting. This is just one of my tips. WIll talk more another time as I have to do some housework!

Housework--bah humbug!
by: Linda Landig

Ok, so housework is probably a necessary evil, but we'd all rather be beading, right???

Thanks for your initial reply. Hope you or others might have time to address my other questions. Happy beading!

Well, I must say my best moments of inspiration strike in the middle of my vacuuming! So I abandon the work and off I go to my studio!

Get you Facebook Page started and tell your friends about it. That will get you started. Then treat it like a blog and add stuff everyday.

More later:-)

FB - Personal Page
by: Elsie - La Boite a Bijoux

Whilst I don't have a professional page (which I will do immediately after this!) I do have a personal FB page and have been posting albums of new collections so my fiends and family can see my creations. I don't think we realise how many friends and family we have who are interested in purchasing gifts for THEIR family and friends. This has been great for them to see my work and having confidence enough that I can send the gift to a 3rd party with them having absolute confidence in the gift. This has been useful as I don't yet have an internet site - but again, working on it!

Hi Elsie,

Will google search your FB page! I agree, this is the power of social media. How do you sell your products then? I tried looking for an application on FB that does the trick but so far nothing looks as good. Do you have an etsy store?

Love Facebook!

I have a business and personal facebook page. That is the social networking site that has worked the best for me and my sales increased after utilizing it more. You can see mine here: http://www.facebook.com/GlassAddictions?ref=ts

One thing to be careful of is doing giveaways on your facebook page. I saw a policy that if you have a business page and hold contests with prizes, they may require you to advertise with them and that is big $$$$ It took forever, but found the link to the info http://networkedblogs.com/p17172019

Hi Jennifer,

Hey thanks for that info:-) I did hear about it before but have always believed in the age old adage "Don't ask for permission, beg for forgiveness later on" (gee I hope FB guys are not reading this;-) But will now that I see it in black and white, will read it front to back, left to right. Thanks! And I just became a fan in your page btw!

Question on Facebook Page
by: Jen W

Hi Rena, I have a question, if you don't mind. I tried to start a Facebook page for my jewelry. I intended it to be just for my jewelry. However, I saw on other jewelry Fb pages, that they have their jewelry names for the page, where I have my name. Also, I sent out friends request to that page, which I think may have been a mistake because now I see all their posts. Which I see on my personal FB page, so I don't need to see it twice. I guess my intention for a Jewelry FB page was to be all about my jewelry. Do you have any suggestions? Maybe where I went wrong.

Hi, is this a Facebook Group or Page? It must be a Page and if it is name after you just remember to add YOURNAME Jewelry or YOURNAME Designs or YOURNAME Creations to differentiate your profile from your page.

Free Business Page: To have Contests or Not!
by: Aliogo Linda

Hello! I have gone through some of the comments on having contests or give aways to increase traffic. I just joined the FB about a week ago. I do have a personal page as well as a business page. I have been toying with the idea of coming up with an idea for a give aways however, with this FB policy how do I go about this correctly since I am not yet ready to pay so much for ads. I own a hand made jewelry and blog site. Thanks.

ArtFire Business Page on Facebook
by: Anonymous

I'm not that savvy with the computer but I understand that Small businesses need a helping hand .
One day , I was on Facebook having no idea what I was doing and in the left column I noticed "Start a Group " and I wrote something like " Facebook in partnership with Artfire in promoting small business " and I was out there.

Feel free to post because we all have to stay in the game to get an audience .
It pays off over time

Selling jewelry/misc. items on Facebook
by: Charlotte

I have been making and selling jewelry for over 35 years and have had great success without the internet, but as I have a Facebook page was not sure if it was ok to sell anything and if so, just how to do it.

Any comments or suggestions would be helpful.
