Having Trouble Setting Goals
for Your Jewelry Business?
Try a Vision (Story) Board!

Several months ago, I wrote an article about having a hard time getting started in my jewelry business, mainly because of fears, concerns and worries that were stopping me.

One thing that has really helped me to get going in my Jewelry Business was to create a "Story Board" or "Vision Board" so that I could see some of my goals right in front of me.

This was a huge motivator for me and really inspired me to face my fears and all of the "what if's" floating around in my head!

What is a Vision Board?

It is simply a grouping of pictures, quotes, words or symbols that have meaning to you.

Vision boards can come in all shapes and sizes, and they can be fancy or simple.

Mine is a cork bulletin board, which I like because it allows me to change the pictures and quotes as my own visions, hopes and dreams move forward.

You could also use Poster Board and Rubber Cement to glue the pictures on, or you could even place your Vision Board in a picture frame!

Why not make more than one, so that you'll have one in several rooms in your house?

What Should You Include
in Your Vision Board?

You could use pictures of your family, a vacation you'd love to take, a new car you'd love to own - the list is endless!

The pictures and words can come from anywhere: brochures, magazines, letters, etc.

It would be very helpful to use pictures from a time in your life when you remember feeling confident, happy and successful!

By placing these things in a "collage" type set-up, it allows you to put your hopes and dreams right in front of you, so that they are visible to you often throughout your day.

You can cut out and place the pictures in a way that you feel will motivate you, and you can look at it as you are working on your jewelry, or anytime during your day!

What a huge inspiration it is to be able to see these pictures that will epitomize all that you're working toward!

It really helps me when I might not feel like working, or if I have a big day ahead of me.

Looking at my Vision Board moves me closer to taking that step toward achieving my goals and dreams.

Need a Little Inspiration?

Just start flipping through some magazines or look through some old pictures and the ideas will flow.

The vision board will remind you of what you are hoping and working for in your life, and in your Jewelry Business!

Have fun creating your own Vision Board!

Fantastic jump-starter!

Thank you so much for sharing this fabulous tip, Polly!

I especially love your idea of doing it as a bulletin board, so the Vision Board can continually evolve as we achieve some of our visions and set new goals.

I have dreams and thumbtacks - now I just need to get a board! :o)

Thanks again for the lovely inspiration.

Nice Vision Board
by: Michelle

Polly,
It's so nice of you to put your vision board out there for everyone to see - especially for those who want to make one and might not have known what to put on it or how to go about it! Mine's tucked away in my jewelry cabinet (not a good place since it's not open all the time!!) so having one out where you can be constantly reminded of your dreams is wonderful! Thanks for sharing!
