Selling Online to an Upscale Market
I just launched my own shop at Etsy (www.etsy.com). I have sold my pieces privately, and now want to expand to the online / international market. I priced my pieces for my time and materials, and also keeping in mind that my focus is clients within a mid- to high-income range. What do you think, and do you have any suggestions for growing in the fashion / celebrity markets?
Thanks! I want to thank you for such an incredibly cool site!
Answer:
Reaching the Online Jewelry Customers You're Targeting
© by Rena Klingenberg; all rights reservedFor selling jewelry online to a high-end market, your best bet is to spend some time surfing the Web to find sites / blogs that cater to that market. Then work on getting links from those sites to your own website or Etsy shop.
One of the best ways to get one of these sites to link to you is to create an article or other content specifically for that site. You can sometimes figure out some really useful content for them after poking around their site a bit.
Here are some resources you can explore regarding selling your jewelry to the fashion and celebrity markets.
The first one is an interview I did with Gretta Van Someren a few months ago, where several of the questions deal with the celebrity and fashion market:

Here's an article (not by me) about placing products in celebrity gift bags:

And an article on it in Bella Online:

Also, if you're not already using
The Switchboards online forum, I highly recommend it; you'll find lots of jewelry artists working on a professional level on the types of projects you are interested in, and lots of discussion that will help you.
Best of luck, and thank you for your kind comment on my website!
