To determine your ring size, measure the circumference of your finger in inches or millimeters (a piece of string or strip of paper no wider than 1/4 inch wide will do).

Mark where the loose end touches the strip, and measure the marked length with a ruler.

Then use the international ring sizing chart below to determine the closest US size.

Using the table below, you can also find out the correct US ring size if you know your size in one of the several international ring size systems.

While there are no exact equivalents, the closest comparable size has been provided.

If your knuckles are large, you may want to find an average size between the circumference of your knuckle and the circumference at the base of your finger.

5 Tips for
Finding Your Best Ring Size

Tip 1. Measure your finger size at the end of a hot day or first thing in the morning, because your fingers can be a little puffy then. Otherwise, there is a possibility that you'll be able to wear your ring only in winter or just round about midday.

Tip 2. If you don't trust all those ring size charts, strings, plastic strips and complicated formulae, you can simply go to the nearest jeweler or jewelry shop.

To find out your finger size, try on those plain metal gauge rings they have. Then make an effort to fix the size in your mind or engrave it on something "immortal" at home.

An extreme way to remember is to tattoo it on your body, but then you wouldn't be able to put on weight - your finger size would change and it's not that easy to change a tattoo (aside from arithmetical prolongation)!

Tip 3. If the ring is wide, it should be half size bigger. If the ring is narrow, it can be half size smaller. If the knuckle joints of your fingers are smaller than the fleshy parts, choose a half size smaller ring (wide or narrow), otherwise it could easily slip off.

Tip 4. If the ring doesn't fit you correctly, don't hesitate to adjust it at a jeweler's. It's quite a common thing (except for titanium and stainless steel rings, which are quite difficult to be resized). By the way, you'll look silly if you ask to return the gold left after having the ring sized down - in most cases it's nothing to return except shadows and dust.

Tip 5. Tell your friend your ring size as often as you can (don't forget to mention the stone you like). By doing so you'll save him the trouble of asking your friends and relatives about your finger size, of stealing your rings in order to measure them, of other dubious deals. This low-pressure advertising should soon bring you an admired ring. With a bit of luck and your friend's good memory, the ring will be chosen right, and it will fit this or that finger.
