Having recently submitted my first ever article to Home Jewelry Business Success Tips (A Window of Opportunity- Parisian Inspiration), I was delighted when Rena e-mailed me to confirm that I was published!!

Delighted, because firstly, I acknowledge that the written word is not my strongest skill and secondly, would the readers really be interested in what I had to say?

Deciding that I had nothing to lose, I had decided to give it a go and actually really enjoyed putting pen to paper.

My story was written, I was pleased to share information with fellow jewellery business owners - and was delighted that it had made it to "print".

My delight soon turned to AMAZEMENT when I realised the scale of the impact that my published article could have on my business! As we Brits say, "The penny had dropped!"

Not surprisingly, I included a link to my website in my published article and hoped that some of the readers would be curious and take a look.

Wow! Did they?

Talk about traffic! my hits counter was so busy on the day that the article was sent out as part of Rena's "Newest Tips" e-mail. In fact, to put this into perspective, I had around a month's worth of hits in a single day!

Traffic was pouring in through my (Parisian!) shop door and made me realise what a powerful marketing tool I had discovered. Finally, I had found a way to bring potential customers to my site and I wasn't going to stop there.

I also loved the fact that when I Googled myself there were now a further 3 or 4 listings for me - all because of that one little article.

Following on from this, the phrase "Blog for Business" started to make more sense to me. I now knew what was meant by this (I know I've been a bit slow, but hey, we all learn at our own pace!)

Since I contributed to the ensuing discussion on Rena's blog, Google also recognised these entries and lists them against the search on my name. What's more, I am now linked to by sites that I've never heard of before and the whole networking thing seems to be self perpetuating - and almost "living" as it grows by itself.

Isn't this fabulous? All of this powerful networking for free, and so easily generated - this has to be an important part of anyone's marketing plan for their website.

Now that I've seen this proof with my own eyes, I shan't be stopping here -you'll see my name in print again and again and you'll know why!

If you've ever thought about writing an article for a publication, I hope this has given you some inspiration for doing so! Don't be frightened - go forward and dare to make a statement!
