Packaging Pendants Without a Chain

by Nadine
(Malta)

Hello everyone,

I just found this website in my Google search and I think it is pretty amazing and very helpful. I have just started out selling jewelry online and I am experimenting with different products and prices.

My question is: How do you pack a pendant without a chain? I use cardboard boxes with inserts, however I do not want my pendants to be loose in the box. I have read somewhere on this site that you use a zip lock bag, but I haven't got any at the moment- is there any other option? What about tissue paper?

Thanks a lot for your help and wonderful site!

Nadine

Packaging pendants
by: Rena

Hi Nadine,

So glad you've found us here - thank you for your lovely feedback!

I think you could certainly use tissue paper to neatly wrap up the pendant and keep it from rattling around inside the box. You might have to experiment a bit with what sort of wrapping (or possibly even crumpling) makes the tissue work best.

If your pendants are metal, I do recommend getting some mini-ziplock jewelry bags when you can. They'll help prevent tarnish, scratching, snagging, and other things that can happen to jewelry.

But in the meantime, I think tissue could be a good solution.

Thank you Rina.

Yes I think both the tissue paper and ziplock bags are a good idea. I am thinking whether this would be a good idea also for the pendants which are sold on a chain, because they rattle as well inside the box and they would be prone to damage during shipment.

I was only concerned about the presentation, because obviously jewelry looks better without the plastic, however I guess safety comes first in this matter!

Thanks again for your help!

Nadine
