Hi, my name is Tracy. I had a gastric bypass 16 years ago which, although it worked (I now weigh 129 lbs.), all in all, it did not go well and 6 major surgeries later, I was left permanently disabled.

Now, I have tons of free time on my hands so I started making jewelry. I just opened an online store, Nutkitten's Handcrafted Jewelry.

Here is a pic of the necklace I made last night. And also some pics of "interchangeable" necklaces I make. These are necklaces with removable yokes.

I hope you like them.

The Best
by: Bernadette

I'm sorry to here about your experience. I was concidering the same thing but my Ins. pays minimum and I would have to come up with a total about $17,000.00. Insane!!! I do like you jewelry very much. I wish you the best. Bernadette

Very Pretty!

I too am sorry to hear of your physical disability status. However, it's great that you have found a passion for creating jewelry. The necklace you feature here is beautiful. A wonderful design. My best to you in your business endeavors.

Thank you !
by: Tracy Martin

I wanted to thank you both for your wonderful comments and a special thanks to Rena for posting my story.
I also wanted to mention that as most handcrafted jewelry is "high-end" merchandise, I do my best to keep my items very affordable. Nothing at my store is over $25.00. I goal is to allow people, like myself, who can't afford high-end jewelry to be able to purchase handcrafted items on a budget.
Again,Rena, thank you so very much!

Hi, Tracy. Welcome to the jewelry-making world! I love it, and I hope you do, too. Your designs are lovely. The only constructive comment I have for you is that you need much better photos to highlight your work. All the photos appear "fuzzy" and out of focus. That will directly impact negatively on your sales. If you haven't already, get a digital camera, learn its operation, and take pictures that are in focus. That will enable you to have more success at selling on line.
Good luck.

Thanks for sharing and how to make your pictures better
by: Dolly

Thank you for sharing. My weight is a major problem. I have considered by pass but have heard too many stories like yours.

My passion is not making jewelry. It is buying vintage jewelry. Eventually I would like to take broken pieces or unwanted pieces and make them into something more beautiful.

I struggled with photos for a while. Here is the advice that I receive and it works for me.
If you can afford an Ott Light, buy one. They provide the most natural light and your photos don't turn out yellow. Also, always use a white background, unless it will only show up on a dark one. Use a photo editor to brighten it up a bit. Research photographing jewelry and you will find lots of advice.

Good Luck

Beautiful Jewelry
by: Jen W

Tracy, Sorry to hear about all you have had to go through. I started making jewelry after my husband was diagnosed with brain cancer, so I hope it helps you like it has helped me. I love your jewelry, you do such beautiful work. I wish you all the best in jewelry making and health.
