"Knotted Pearls" by Becky Johnson
I know snail mail is supposed to be old fashioned, but not everyone has a computer.

I'm an older woman so most of my family is older also.

If we are honest, we really love to get mail - it shows that someone took the time to think about you.

One advantage to being older is there are so many young nieces, nephews, and grandchildren in my family.

This is what I did to help promote my business:

I wrote a note on my computer. I started with the word "Hello" so I could personally write their name in.

Then the letter said,

"I want to invite you to come see my website, http://beckysbeauties.com. I am designing beaded jewelry. Drum me up some business. Please pass my jewelry site around to your family and friends."

Next I ended with a "Thank you" and signed my first name - after all this is someone you have known for a lifetime. (My address book even had old friends and acquaintances that I had lost contact with. Don't discount that address book sitting on the shelf!)

I enclosed my business card with each of these letters.

I went to Home Jewelry Business Success Tips to get some of the best information available on the internet. I found an article about designing your own business cards at iPrint. I found the site to be easy to maneuver, and since I design jewelry I thought I should have a unique card. iPrint allows you to insert a photo of your jewelry. Wow, the cards arrived promptly and the quality of the card is outstanding. I guess you can tell I love my cards. Everyone that receives one looks very impressed . That helps my self-esteem and makes me give out the next one.

At Home Jewelry Business Success Tips I also looked for display ideas. So many different items were used. It sparked me to start looking for objects around my house.

I found some bi-fold doors that had been cut down to 2 feet, and I had my husband put a piano hinge down the length and have them close into each other. I can load up many pairs of earrings on their cards and have the display ready to show customers at home or shows.

For jewelry displays, just start looking at objects with a different eye. I also bought two coffee mug stands and painted them to match. I am displaying my bracelets and anklets on them.
