Hi..My name is Divya and I am a designer from India. After working for a year at a corporate house, I decided that my heart was not it in.
From my college days I wanted to do something that was related to the arts and crafts my country boasted of. So I quit my high-stress, no-satisfaction-yielding job, to start my own business.
Jewelry making was my hobby, and my friend suggested that I should take it up full time as a business. Today I am just glad that i listened to her.
I have ortho-neuro problems and I am sick most of the time, so I cannot work for long periods at a stretch. I also had severe financial constraints due to that.
As a result I became very frustated and depressed that I could not achieve what I really wanted to.
But jewelry making - beading especially - is very therapeutic like dance which immediately lifts up your mood and gives you immense satisfaction, and nearly doesn't require anything more than your creativity and a little cash to begin with.
I design & make jewelry at home and showcase them at exhibitions.
When my friends address me as a purely "self made woman" now, who rises everytime she falls, it makes me happy and my parents proud.
A little creativity and zest for life can pull you through the hardest of days and can make you a happier person.
