"Mile-High Hooker" - Crocheted Jewelry

Red Butterfly Earrings

That's what I've been called a couple of times! I'm a flight attendant and I have a LOT of down time while on work trips.

I always have my bag of crocheting with me, so I can work on jewelry wherever I go. Seeing me crocheting has started a lot of conversations and I've given out many business cards and even sold a few jewelry pieces that I happened to carry with me.

After much encouragement from friends and family members I now have an online shop at Joyce Is Crafty.

Crocheting my butterflies has helped keep my sanity (and my hands away from the junk food) on several occasions with flight delays, long work days, and difficult passengers.

You *are* crafty, Joyce! :o)

Hi Joyce,

I think it's wonderful that your craftiness is portable enough to take with you on your trips - especially with so much time spent waiting.

That's one of the things I love about being a jewelry artist, as compared to being a pottery or stained glass artist - our stuff can go anywhere with us!

Beautiful butterflies - thanks so much for sharing them with us!

Your work is so pretty. I like to carry needlepoint or knitting projects with me everywhere I go. People wouldn't believe what I've made just while waiting around in doctors' offices. It has really added up over the years.
Lovely work!
