Established by father daughter-team Nicole and Ray Leibman, the idea for Little Purple Cow was born in late 2008.
After losing her job as an attorney, a weekend visit with her parents finally inspired Nicole to pursue her creative passion.
Rummaging through her parents' basement, she stumbled upon some dusty boxes of sterling silverware that her parents had been storing for her to have one day.
Amid the boxes she found some strange remnants of handles and fork tines. She recalled helping her father turn these pieces into decorative objects and jewelry during Ray's many years working in the tableware industry.
Looking at one of the spoons-turned-ring, it suddenly clicked. All of the unique patterns of this beautiful silver, just sitting in a box in the basement, could be transformed into new and unique jewelry.
It was then Nicole teamed up with her father, combining her unique concept and creativity with Ray's years of experience in tableware and silverware design.
Named after Nicole's whimsical childhood love of collecting cows, Little Purple Cow was launched in April of 2009 with its debut collection of spoon rings.
Since then, the pair has continued to work together on several follow-up collections that now include necklaces, bracelets and rings inspired by antique and decorative objects.
