Welcome, Charlotte! I'm so glad you've found us here.

We'll all look forward to seeing pictures of your lovely creations whenever you have some ready to share with us.

Making jewelry and having a jewelry business are usually solitary activities - so it's wonderful to have other people to share ideas and encouragement with.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you're coming along with everything! :)

Good luck

I have been selling since mid 2007 and the one thing I found to be hardest is having expectations that were unrealistic(selling everything in one day!)
I was told by an artist that when you sell what you have created, believe is beautiful, it is like showing yourself naked.
Try to just go with what happens, learn from it and really, do read Rena's books on how to sell at fairs etc and online. Excellent!
You can do it, but it is not an easy road to riches!

Be Confident
by: April Schwaegerle

Hi Charlotte,

You can achieve anything if you believe in yourself.

I just attended a two day conference in Detroit titled "Rust Belt to Artist Belt III" and encountered and conversed with artists that create in all mediums.

The biggest challenge they have is...themselves! Do not let fear
be your obstacle.

Be confident and keep taking one step after another.

Good luck!!

Great Expectations
by: Anonymous

Charlotte,

I just recently started putting some of my jewelry creations online (in Artfire) and found myself to be a little disappointed in the first month or so that the website was up and running. I had been really spoiled during the holidays in 2010 when my friends and coworkers snapped up anything that I had time to make as soon as they saw it.

As someone said above, this business is not an overnight story - success or failure.

Rena's site gives wonderful advice regarding how-to's, when-tos, etc. The only thing that I would add is that it is very difficult to bring up a jewlery website that is not part of a community that is specifically designed for that type of business. My daughter used ETSY and I've used ARTFIRE and both of those make it easier to post photos, create the verbage describing your items, etc.

Good luck on your endeavors!!!

I wish you all the best. Take baby steps and all the advice people give you because that's helped me

Good Luck!

Like others have said, this is not an overnight business. It can take time. But that time is worth it.

I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of your work.

Don't forget that we are often our own worst critics. Do what you love, and it will show in your work.

Good luck and hope all goes well for you!

Just Starting Out
by: Sandra

Hi there, Charlotte.I have also just started out making my own bead creations and I must say I really enjoy it. Like they say, we are our own worst enemies. Most important thing is believe in what you do. All the best, believe in yourself and keep going. By the way, I had my first bead party last month! Although not many people came, but it was fun and amazing. The interest is thereand know word will get out there.
