Jewelry Shopping at a Renaissance Fair

by Nicole Williams

I have purchased hand crafted jewelry when I was at a Renaissance Fair.

I chose to get hand crafted jewelry because it went along with the atmosphere of the event better than mass produced items.

At a Renaissance Fair most people are reenacting the Renaissance period so I wanted to buy a handcrafted item.

I bought two items at a booth. The first was a necklace for myself and the other was a pair of earrings for my mother who couldn't join us on the trip.

If I were to go back to the fair I would definitely purchase from the same artist because I love her work and wear the necklace all the time.

The experience was pleasant because she helped me find the colors and styles that I was interested in.

My advice to artists making handcrafted jewelry is to take your time and pay attention to detail. I know I am more prone to buying someone's work where it looks like they spent time on the piece.

If the jewelry is small and not as intricate I'm not as likely to buy it.

Take the time to add cool details and people will buy.
