Jewelry Party
in a Basket

how to offer a portable jewelry party

Often when you're having a home jewelry party, there will be guests who would love to host a party of their own, but can't. Perhaps they're having renovations done, or their partner wouldn't be happy about it, or they just don't have enough space in their home.

Here's a suggestion to help them share your jewelry with their friends anyway, and earn themselves some commission at the same time - give them the option of having a jewelry party in a basket!

How to Do a
Jewelry Party in a Basket

  • Gather a selection of your lower to mid priced jewelry, and package it so that the jewelry is attractively presented but still visible. Try organza bags, or cellophane packages.
  • Make sure everything is priced up and has an item number attached to it.
  • Arrange it all in an attractive basket.
  • Enclose a typed-up inventory list which includes the item numbers and prices (keep a copy for yourself as well).

Tell your guests that they can volunteer to keep the basket for a week or two and earn normal hostess incentives on whatever they sell from it by showing it to their friends and family. For example, they can take it into their office with them to sell to colleagues, to toddler groups they attend, or on the school run to sell to other parents.

Security Tip:

Ask the party hostess to sign for all the inventory in the basket, especially if you have included some expensive items. That way she'll be more careful about taking care of your jewelry, so nothing goes missing.

The inventory list makes it easy for the hostess to just tick off each item as she sells it.

Afterwards she will pay you for everything that's been taken, and earns free jewelry or a commission based on those sales.

This is a great way to expand your customer base, so make sure your business card or contact details are included inside every jewelry package.

It's also a handy way of clearing out old stock, or one off pieces that you can't get any more supplies for.

Don't forget to ask your friends and family if they'd like to host a jewelry party in a basket too!
