I have bought hand-crafted jewelry on just a few occasions. I bought some at a craft fair for a PTA fundraiser.
The beads used weren't particularly high-quality, but the pieces were really put together beautifully, and turned out to be very sturdy pieces. I let my daughter wear the necklace.
I also bought some jewelry my sister-in-law had made. I felt I had to make the purchase, I was the only sister-in-law not buying anything.
In this case the jewelry wasn't very well made. Knots were showing, and the color combinations were very basic. It looked like it had been made quickly.
Hand-crafted jewelry is more special when it's unique. I would suggest making up business cards, so people know you mean business.
Also, don't try to sell something that doesn't look professionally made. If a piece looks sturdy when I'm standing at a booth, there's a better chance I'd buy it.
A sign with jewelry cleaning suggestions can be helpful too, especially for earrings.
