Jewelry Business Inspiration:

keep reaching for your dreams

© by Sharon Cox; all rights reserved

My jewelry business started because I was in a life-threatening accident as a realtor(?!). I thought I had it all - a good paying job, new car, etc. Then while showing an inspector around a house that failed a HUD inspection, I fell down the stairs and spent the next two years trying to learn to walk on my own.

With no medical insurance and many pending medical bills from the fall, I didn't know what to do. My weight became a real problem for me and I got to where I wasn't able to go to the bathroom without help getting there.

Then one day I sat down to string beads. From there I did one craft show, and my jewelry business took off before my eyes.

If not for my daughter, now eighteen, who really helped me with every show and built my website from scratch, we wouldn't be where we are now.

We can make hundreds of dollars just doing small one- and two-day shows in our area, and next year we plan to expand and do street fairs and maybe some traveling, so long as my bad leg from the accident holds up. We were even invited to have a booth at our neighborhood mall.

So for everyone who thinks
they can't do it:

Think again.
You just need to keep a positive outlook
and keep reaching for your dreams.

I do have the world's greatest daughter / CEO of my jewelry business, who is always there for me and helps me with the physical end of things when I have a bad day.

And when I do have a bad day, I cry, get it over with, and go on to making something new. Just keep going and keep telling yourself you're lucky to have a talent many wish they had. Either that or call my daughter .... She's the best.
