Jazzie Jewels Designs By Jackie

What inspired me to design jewelry - I had a jewelry show in my home, selling someone else's jewelry. It was a success.

I ordered many items myself. After receiving the jewelry I examined it carefully, because I am a fanatic when it comes to quality jewelry and I love it! The pieces that I received were not that well made.

I said to myself, (this looks so easy) I think I can do this. I always had a passion for designing and creating things, such as paper wrapping, clothing, candy making, which is another passion of mine.

Getting back to the jewelry making. I wanted a certain color necklace, I looked everywhere for it. In my mind I knew exactly what I wanted but could not find it.

So I was out shopping and I passed by this bead store. I went in. I imediately spotted the colors of beads that I wanted.

I didn't know the first thing about making jewelry. The sales representative told me to buy the beads and she will show me how to strand the beads and add a necklace clasp.

That was the only training I received and I have been making jewelry ever since, and have started my own business. I love it, it's like additions.

I design each piece carefully and thoroughly. When I go to bed at night the ideas pour into my mind.

I keep a sketch pad next to my bed, when a design comes to me in a dream or throughout the night I imediately do a quick sketch of it so that I won't forget it. Sometimes as I'm sitting at my jewelry table ideas just flow and I start designing.

I have been making hand made jewelry since April 2011. I have not had any showing, but have sold quite a bit to my friends and family. Everyone that sees it said it is beautiful.

I will be showing it October 2011. I pray that it will be a success.

It is addicting!

Jackie, you will do great at your first show. Just keep the positive attitude. I have a similar story that started over 10 years ago. I have been designing and creating jewelry ever since.

I used to do many other types of art- but jewelry designing is the one type that has kept my interest and excitement for all this time.

I just got back from the Gem and Bead Shows in Denver and my head is swimming with ideas and new designs.

I just wish my real job didn't get in the way of my fun job.

Happy Beading,
Karen

I can feel your enthusiastic and love for jewelry designing just by reading your story. I'm happy to find that someone else has a story like mine. I started making jewelry in November 2010 after looking at some hand-crafted by a friend, who is now a mentor. I have gotten to the point to where I can just look at a strand of beads and can see how they would look as a necklace. I am going to say what I have been told--Keep doing what you are doing and create your own style. I haven't had my first show yet but working toward one in December. Your story is an inspiration to all newcomers. Wishing you all the luck and prayers.
