Inspired by Nature

by Twiggy
(Vancouver WA)

"Southbend"

Like many other artists, I am inspired by things that I see. Mostly nature. When I go to the beach and notice something particular, or when I watch some nature show, I wonder how I can take what I have seen and incorporate that into jewelry.

This particular necklace was inspired by a trip to the coast and I noticed pine cones on the beach along with the shells.

I made the pine cones out of pearls and used mother of pearl rounds with wood beads and hemp for the dried grass.

The pendant is a blister pearl shell.

Hi Twiggy,

I especially like how you worked the hemp into this design - neat!

I also enjoy the creative challenge of using supplies I have on hand to make a new design from an idea. It often suddenly gives me a use for supplies I've had sitting around un-inspiringly for ages!

Thank you for sharing this lovely necklace!
