Idea for a Personalized Jewelry Product I'd Like to See

by Anonymous

I purchased hand crafted jewelry at a local auction. I chose it because I think it's made with much more care, and all of the pieces that i have bought are always more unique, than the mass produced ones.

I also prefer it because of the creative ideas people come up with.

My new necklace that I purchased at the auction is made out of a simple chain but has several car logos embedded into it. How they accomplished this I do not know, but I thought it was very unique so that's why I purchased it. I bought it for myself.

I haven't purchased more from the artist because I haven't seen anything that has really jumped out to me, although she was very friendly and polite. It made the purchase much more enjoyable than it would have been with the mass production sellers like "The Jewelry Exchange".

I think that every artist should create what is appealing to them. Don't create what you think other people want. Create it as if it were for you.

I think that a lot more creativity goes into a piece that has been made from the heart rather then what you think other people want.

I have one suggestion that I think more artists should offer, and that is personalized items. I don't mean a design that I request. I mean like the artist gives me a survey to fill out about myself, and the artist creates something built on the survey I submitted. That would be very cool. It would show me what the artist thinks of me, and it would be about me.

Commissioned Artisan Jewellery
by: Helene T

There are some web-jewellery stores that offer commissioned pieces. Your ideas and the artist's skill combine to make that one of a kind piece of glass bead artisan jewellery. You don't need to look too far: try http://www.lampworkandbeads.com/commissionedwork.

Personalized jewelry
by: Joan Kraus

That's my favorite kind of jewelry to make! When my customer wants a gift item, I ask them to find out the recipient's color preferences, length preferences, gold or silver findings, pierced or clip earrings, and special interests, among other things.

I have made things as unusual as a bat mitzvah set of necklace and tallit clips in orange, because that was the girl's favorite color!

A Bit Hard
by: Anonymous

When purchasing jewellery from auctions or craft fairs etc it would be very hard to rack up a personalized piece of jewellery that is something that has to be done at home or wherever we have all your tools as such,It is not an on the spot job.
Otherwise we would have to cart all our beads and tools with us everywhere we go. It is a good idea none the less,But it would be hard to be a same day delivery job.

Regarding Anonymous's post about custom jewelry, I would never attempt to do a custom piece on the spot. The custom work I have done involves numerous back and forth questions to make sure the customer and I are on the same wave length.
