I Admire People Who Make Jewelry, and I Love Etsy!

by Megan Moore

I have bought handcrafted jewelry at street and craft sales, but I felt that these were very expensive due to the fact that the sellers have to pay a high fee for their booth for the day. This may make it hard for them to make a profit.

So I've decided that the best place to buy handcrafted jewelry is Etsy.com. This site was recommended to me by an acquaintance, and it's like a craft fair on the Internet.

Because there's no high booth fee, it allows people to sell cheaper and lets relatively unknowns who work in far-flung places or from home to showcase their talents.

I feel like more of my purchase price goes to the jewelry designer (which I prefer) instead of to the people who are putting on the craft fair.

Some of the stuff I have picked up there is worth tons more and is unlike any I have seen any other place.

You can always tell a handcrafted piece made by an artist who is really "into it" - the stuff rocks!

I am always amazed by the people who do handcrafted jewelry. The fact that they have the imagination to come up with new and different items year after year is so exciting and gives me hope for all human beings! Alas, I am not so talented, but i can sure appreciate it when I see it!

Rock on!

Thank you so much for your insight! I use to sell at craft fairs and the cost for entry can be very overwhelming. I too discovered Etsy.com and it’s my exclusive resource for selling my handcrafted jewelry.

As an artist, sometimes you forget that what comes easy to you isn’t that easy for others. Thank you so much for your kind words. I will remind myself to always be grateful for my sometimes wacky imagination!
