The birthday party girls model their new bracelets

I was asked to do a Girl's Jewelry Birthday Party for 11 girls ages 5 to 8 yrs. old.

Thanks to Rena Klingenberg's wonderful advice on doing a Birthday Bracelet Beading Party, I was able pull this off and have loads of fun with these great kids!

It was fun helping them and certainly they did not need much help in designing - they were fantastic and creative!

I never had the opportunity to be with a group of little girls. Each one had their own personality starting to emerge. I just adored them and had so much fun.

I am amazed at how much the girls enjoyed having this jewelry birthday party!

I pretty much took the cue from Rena Klingerberg's website. Although, Rena wrote her little girl's jewelry party advice a few years back I still tried to keep the bracelet party at an affordable price. Rena used gmestones and sterling silver. To keep it affordable in today's economy I used silverplated clasps (first time using silverplate) and glass beads. I kept the bracelet price down to $7.00 ea. I had about 45 different beads consisting of mostly glass beads. It sounds like a lot but I dug into my cabinet and found many beads that I do not use anymore. If you do this you will be surprised at how much you already own!

I also joined CVS photo and received 50 free photos. I made the photos for the Mom to give out.

In a business view the exposure is great for other parties for both little girls and adults. Exposure to my website too! A flyer went home in each girl's goodie bag.

Girl's Jewelry

Hi Rena, So I currently sell my jewelry at a local farmer's market. The management of the market wanted me to include a "kid-friendly" event in my booth. I've decided to set up a kid's table and chairs and have the kids make their own bracelets. How do you feel about memory wire bracelets rather than stringing like you suggested for the girl's parties? I would include several colors of glass beads and some charms that could be added if they want. At the same time I thought I would create a flyer to do birthday parties as well. Any negatives to using memory wire? I could finish it off with a simple loop at the end. Thanks for your suggestions.

Kids' jewelry making activity at farmer's market

Hi Marlene, great idea for a children's jewelry activity at the farmer's market.

I can't think of any negatives about using memory wire for this. In fact, one jewelry artist mentions using memory wire for all of her birthday bracelet parties (go to the discussion, Bracelet Making Jewelry Parties, and scroll down to the comment titled "....another option" by Valerie J.)

For the farmer's market activity, you may want to set an age limit so you won't have children who are too young to make a bracelet - and depending on the children involved, you may want to specify that a parent must be present with each participating child.

I think this is an outstanding opportunity to promote your jewelry-making birthdays. I wish you every success with this event, and we'd love to hear how it goes!
