Getting a Jewelry Business Online

Have you ever wondered how jewelry artists get their pieces online for sale and still turn a profit?

I realized quickly when I began to sell my jewelry that I would need an online presence if I was to ever be able to sell to my far-reaching social network.

I have discovered many helpful websites that save me money in my business that I would like to share.

You can have a website and a business that doesn't break the bank if you have (or can obtain) some minimal HTML skills and know how to copy and paste!

I use Web.com to design my own website - it was all point and click. Then to add my shopping cart, I used PayPal. The combination of the two costs me $11.95 per month (plus a small percent fee per transaction on PayPal).

I had no other website costs because I designed the website myself. The web software allows you to type in your keywords and meta tags for the search engines, and you have the ability to view website statistics, so you know who is visiting your site, from where, what pages they are viewing and how long they are staying.

PayPal Virtual Terminal is also great for use at Craft Shows and Fairs because it allows you to accept credit cards.

I have found that ordering business cards and post cards for my jewelry home parties and to use at craft shows is a lot cheaper if done in bulk from companies that specialize in printing. I especially like GotPrint.net and use them for all my printing needs. I can't make printed materials on my computer for even close to what they are charging!

For my jewelry supplies, I have found that one-stop shopping saves me time and money (especially with the all-assortable pricing.) My pick for jewelry supplies (and also some great articles and tips!) is Fire Mountain Gems.

I have used many of the suggestions I have found here on Rena's website - especially in my photo taking. I have discovered scanning to take my jewelry photos - I don't think I'll go back to the digital camera way again! Scanning gives me a uniform look to my jewelry photos that was impossible to achieve using my digital camera.
