Finding Teachers for Jewelry Classes
by Megafant
(California)
I'm a recreation specialist searching for an instructor to teach jewelry making one or two times a week at our community center. There is plenty of time in the mornings to schedule a crafts related class for adults.
Do yo know what the best resource would be to find an instructor?
Thank you for your help.
Answer:
Jewelry Workshop Instructors
© by Rena Klingenberg; all rights reservedDepending on the size of your town and what's available to you there, I would talk to the managers of all bead shops and craft stores in your area.
If they don't know of someone who may be interested, see if they'll let you post a flyer describing what you're looking for, somewhere in their store where interested people can see it.
Other likely places to investigate may be the art department of any local community colleges or universities, especially if they offer jewelry making classes. There may be advanced students in these classes who would love to teach a jewelry workshop.
Even if they don't offer jewelry classes in your local colleges / universities, many creative people have worked in several different art forms. So you'd still have a good chance of finding someone with jewelry experience and an artistic outlook.
Also see if you can post a flyer on local college or university job boards.
If your town is too small to have these types of places, don't hesitate to try other towns or cities in your area. Many people would be willing to come in from out of town to teach a jewelry making class once or twice a week.
