Until last November, Etsy was operating on its beta version. In late November, they rolled out version 2. With version 2 came some new features. Shops can now be viewed in "gallery view", which allows the customer to see a larger thumbnail of the seller's items. Sellers are now able to set shipping profiles, complete with different shipping costs for the countries to which they ship their items. These profiles can then be loaded into a listing during the listing process. These profiles can save a tremendous amount of time when listing items.
Sellers are now able to upload up to 5 pictures per listing at no additional charge. As of this writing, listings are now $0.20 for 4 months. Etsy has also implemented a combined shopping cart. This makes it even easier for sellers to offer discounts on shipping of multiple items. It also makes it easier for buyers to shop from multiple sellers at once.
Another new feature is the Etsy Showcase. Sellers can purchase showcase spots that are great, inexpensive advertising. Each day, 36 sellers showcase their favorite items from their shop. The showcase is linked from Etsy's front page. The Etsy team has restructured the category system and tweaked the layout of the site to make shopping at Etsy an even more pleasant experience, as well. Becoming an Etsy seller is still just as simple as before. Just go to Etsy and follow the links to set up your account.
