Daisy's Jewellery

I sell on etsy myself, and agree with what others have said. The better quality the picture is, the more likely it is someone will buy it. Sellers don't have anything else to go on except your reputation, your description and - of course - the pictures, so make all of them really good!

I think finding a website that promotes itself well is always the best because otherwise who's ever going to look at them. The attraction of websites like etsy.com is that they do all the work to get people to see your work, which is why many people prefer it to having there own website.

But as a buyer, I generally look at the reputation of the buyer and other peoples comments about what they received. Because you know that they aren't trying to sell it to you!

Nice photos in your shop
by: Ann Nolen

Hi Daisy
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, you have pointed out something I never thought of. Like you, I tend to shop at sites that people can leave comments for me to read and help me decide if the seller if good bet.
For a short while I worked on building a store on my website, but returned quickly to Etsy because it was so much better visually. The added bonus is the customer feedback, something I overlooked.
I checked out your shop...the photos do make your jewelry look yummy! Love the purple heart...

Self-Promotion
by: Anonymous

I love Etsy but they don't sell for me. Especially in the saturated jewelry market, you need to draw attention to yourself. It's a lot more complicated than "put your jewelry on Etsy and they will come". Do you do any self-promotion at all? Facebook, Twitter, blogging?

Etsy wasn't for me!
by: Joanne Stow Boyington

I have a shop on Etsy and it has been empty for years!"
I never felt they did anything to promote sales for us, they just sold shops for themselves.

I was always paying them!
Listing fees, commissions, etc, etc, etc, and when I needed customer service from them, they were basically rude and in a hurry.

I sold 2 items, with excellent photos, in a whole year on Etsy. (this was a few years ago)

Now on Artfire, I pay one, low fee, each month, and do much better. I even have a blog I have yet to utilize.
But... I just bought Rena's Blooging book so who knows?
