Bergie's Just A Little Something...

by Kimberly W. Berg
(Jupiter, FL)

Affordable Swarovski Elegance

Affordable Swarovski Elegance

It started with seeing a bracelet on the front of a beading magazine and deciding I could make that...

It was my birthday 4 years ago and I had jury duty!

Sitting what seemed like an eternity waiting to be called, a fellow jury candidate offered to let me read a beading magazine.

Her name was called before mine and when I tried to return the magazine to her, she told me to keep it! On the cover of the magazine was a beautiful Amethyst Swarovski beaded bracelet.

The spine of the bracelet was an intricate pattern of jump rings and the components were various shapes and sizes of complementary amethyst and lavender beads...I had no idea what a jump ring, how to make a loop, what the heck was a crimp bead...I was so new to this I squeeked!

I went to Wholesale Beads in West Palm Beach, Florida and my long relationship with this shop began. The help was incredible, they helped me find all of the materials I needed and even gave me a discount.

It took me a long time (2-3 weeks) to make the spine...there was an awful lot of remaking...then making the components and loops; but, lo and behold the bracelet took shape and got finished.

It's funny, I haven't photographed this bracelet yet!

I progressed in my jewelry making and now have a customer base and my own website.

I have made customized wedding and bridal jewelry, custom mother and grandmother bracelets, and many, many pieces for my eCommerce store.

I love Victorian color combinations and try to make my jewelry with that love in mind.

I am trying my hand at my eCommerce store which was designed by Candice Mayberry whom I commissioned from a bid on Elance.

I find myself thinking about what jewelry I am making next. I have even gotten inspired when I see magazine photos of bridal gowns, ball gowns, sophisticated outfits.

I get a sense of creativity when I make my jewelry and the name of my business, Bergie's Just A Little Something, is perfect for when you want to give someone "just a little something".

Fate Steps in During Jury Duty!
by: Rena

Kimberly,

I love "how I got into making jewelry" stories.

Your story has such an unique twist with the location where it happened! And the fact that it was your birthday makes it seem like it was a Divine gift to you.

It's lovely to hear how one thing has kept on leading to another - and how your creativity, talent, and customer base have developed.

I like the Victorian touch your website has - it's elegant and lovely.

Thanks so much for sharing your story here!
