Note from Rena - These lovely ladies operate two jewelry businesses that help people and change lives. Their work enables a non-profit organization in Nebraska to assist low-income, elderly, disabled, young parents, and children in need.

When you begin a new venture and map out the path to arrive at your destination what you discover is there area so many ways and directions that you can take.

As with all things; as you move down the path towards your vision you have many opportunities and bumps along the way.

I believe that the journey is what one needs to embrace and enjoy; one never knows what is around the bend and how that will shape your next steps. It is what makes life so amazing.

We are loving the journey and plan to improve what we do and how we react as we make our away along the path!

Come join us; be a part of our journey.

One thing we have discovered and haven't found a solution for is there isn't enough time to make everything happen.

Life and work can change what you hope to accomplish in any given hour; so we do what we can; we continue to expect more of ourselves, and we celebrate the small steps we take.

Kyla and I have learned that we have more ideas, dreams, and hopes than the two of us can make happen.

So, what to do; find someone who shares your dreams and wants to be a part of making a difference.

We found a partner, team member, believer in Janice.

She brings an array of talent and skills that have moved us forward in our desire to have web presence.

She understands the pull of working with stones and creating beautiful one-of-a-kind heirloom quality pieces of jewelry.

She speaks the language, walks the walk, and is a valued member of the team/family.

Check out both our websites, Beads in a Box and Something for Everyone Jewelry - we will have new pieces to showcase from our trip to Tucson.

We hope as you read and get to know us you will send messages with ideas, suggestions, and sources we can use as we journey along our path.

I know that I will have more rambling thoughts as we continue along our path to create a lasting legacy that will help provide discretionary dollars to support our programs and services.

Have a creative day, Hugs, Karen

p.s. from Janice -- I know what Karen has written touches you - here are so many creative women that are also compassionate and share our goal of touching the more unfortunate people in our communities.

Help us help them - visit our web sites, purchase our jewelry, let us know about events where we can come and share our jewelry and our story - and then share in our excitement as we travel this winding path.

Great work, ladies!
by: Rena

Thank you for sharing your inspiring journey.

I so agree about the importance of enjoying the journey - and I find that the enjoyment is also the catalyst for all sorts of good things falling into place along the way.

Keep up the great work - and please keep us posted as your journey progresses! :o)

BTW, are you interested in receiving donated jewelry supplies - and if so, what do you need and where could we send them?

Regarding the Journey
by: Janice

Rena - thank you so much for your kind words.
We are very blessed to be on this path - being able to create beautiful things and at the same time help such a worthy cause. I can't begin to tell you how wonderful it is to work with such passionate people. I think one of our phrases says it all - "helping to fight poverty one bead at a time."

We appreciate donations - our mailing address is

We will continue to keep you posted on our progress -

Thank you so much

About Worthwhile Goals
by: elaine suddes

I enjoyed reading about you ladies and your charitable work.
I also created a jewelry and related business with a worthwhile goal in mind. When I lost my daughter Brynn in 2007 at 12 years old to a car accident, I decided I wanted a way to carry her memory on. I created an online jewelry shop with the proceeds going to an annual Art School Bursary (scholarship) in dear Brynn's memory. Thus, Heart Strings was begun. I started a shop on etsy, it is http://www.brynnalex.etsy.com - and with the help of many other artisans and jewelry crafters, I have been able to help send 3 students to Art School educations. I chose art schools as Brynn was very creative, and it was her dream. This is a way I can help others follow their dreams.
A tribute site for Brynn is here:

Thanks for allowing me to tell you about Brynn's shop.
And, best of luck to the ladies for your ongoing efforts. It feels good to help others, doesn't it?
Truly, Elaine (Brynn's mom)

Helping People & Changing Lives
by: Kyla

Hats of to you, Elaine, for your passion to help others! What a great tribute to your daughter. (I know she's proud!) It does make it easier to sleep at night when you know you are making a difference in someone's life. We should all be so lucky to enjoy what we do. I feel very blessed to be a part of this big plan. Thank you for inspiring youth to explore their creative side. It's what keeps our lives so exciting! God bless you in your endeavors! Thank you for reading and commenting about our mission. Helping people and changing lives. Kyla
