Your Profitable Jewelry Business

How to Sell More Jewelry During
Next Year's Holiday Season

This is sort of "Part 2" of my blog post I've linked to above (How to Sell More Jewelry this Holiday Season).

It never hurts to think ahead, so here are some things you can do between now and next October to increase your sales for next year's holiday shopping season:

  • Have one or more "Early Bird Christmas" shows next summer; many people actually prefer to do their shopping that early if they find the right things to buy.
  • Offer a free gift to all customers who do their holiday shopping with you before Halloween (thereby freeing your time for accepting more orders during November and December).
  • Add all of this year's new holiday customers to your mailing list so you can notify them of your shows and specials next holiday season.
  • Optimize your website for local search, to build your local customer base. People are increasingly "pre-shopping" by searching the Web for local products and businesses before they leave home; take advantage of this trend and you'll have new customers coming to you.
  • Visit some Fall / holiday shows or festivals that you're considering being in as a jewelry vendor. Check them out this year for traffic, vendor balance, etc., to see whether they're likely to be worth your time and effort next holiday season.
  • Read my article, Plan Ahead for Your Own Holidays When You're a Jewelry Artist - Since November and December are two of the busiest months for jewelry artists, it's helpful if you can prepare for your own holidays ahead of time. Not only will you be able to take care of more jewelry orders, but you'll also enjoy a much nicer holiday season on a personal level, with far less stress.

(By the way, if you've been hearing the word "indie" a lot and wonder what it means, it's short for "independent". As in, the majority of people reading this newsletter are indie jewelry artists / designers.)
