Question from My E-Mail Bag

How do you display multiples of an item, like several identical pairs of earrings?

If you have multiples of one design, I recommend that you experiment with displaying no more than two of them at a time. And displaying just one at a time may net you even more sales.

There are two reasons for this:

First, many customers who appreciate handmade items want to feel that they're buying something unique. These folks are not motivated to buy handcrafted jewelry if it seems to be mass-produced.

And second, if a customer sees a dozen identical pairs of earrings in your display, she may think "Oh, he has a lot of those - I'll come back and get one later." But few customers actually return and make the purchase. After they leave your booth, the impulse to buy the earrings cools. They see things they like in other booths, or they forget about your earrings, or they talk themselves out of the purchase.

But if a customer sees just one set of the earrings she likes in your booth, she is more likely to buy while the impulse is hot, fearing she'll miss out on getting them if she waits.

You can use your multiples of the item for restocking your booth - after someone purchases the set of earrings you have on display, you can fill the empty spot with one of the identical sets.

Your Profitable Jewelry Business

Manifesting Your Jewelry Business Goals

by Rena Klingenberg

Are you familiar with the principle of manifestation? It's a process of bringing about the changes you desire in your life.

I can tell you from my own experience that manifestation works beautifully on both small and large matters. I use it to achieve my everyday goals and dreams - and to create the life I want for myself.

No dream is too big to manifest.

Energy flows where your attention goes - and manifestation happens when you laser-focus your attention on what you want. You create what you focus on, so be sure to focus on positive thoughts and scenarios.

Here are the steps involved in manifesting the things you want in your life. Each step is simple and straightforward - but each requires your complete dedication to it if you want the process to work for you:

  1. Decide specifically what you want.

First, you need to determine a goal that's near and dear to you, and make it specific. Take time to develop this goal clearly in your mind, and add lots of detail. It's more effective if you keep things positive and focus on what you DO want instead of what you DON'T want. ("My jewelry pattern will be published" instead of "I don't want my jewelry pattern to be rejected".)

Encourage your imagination to come up with all the details of your success in this matter. What will all five of your senses experience when this goal becomes reality? How will you feel inside? Paint a detailed mental fantasy of how the event unfolds, and how awesome everything about it is.

Hold tightly to this detailed fantasy and replay it in your mind every day, embellishing on it when you can.

  2. Truly believe that you will succeed, and that you deserve success.

Now it's time to convince every corner of your mind that you will achieve this goal. Sweep away any crumb of doubt your subconscious may try to cling to.

Beliefs are powerful, whether they're positive or negative. Positive beliefs speed you on your way to your goal, while negative ones (such as doubt and fear) put roadblocks in your path. Focus on your achievement of your goal - and your worthiness of success.

Use positive affirmations related to your goal several times a day. Depending on your specific dream, that means telling your subconscious (out loud when possible) things like,

"I will find the perfect shops for carrying my jewelry."

"My home jewelry parties will be a huge success."

"I'm building a prosperous jewelry business."

Spend time every day dwelling on a variety of positive, enthusiastic thoughts about your desired success in the mission you've set for yourself. It's the best way to convince your subconscious that you WILL succeed.

  3. Remove anything that's keeping you from your goals.

Here's where you eliminate anything that prevents you from achieving what you desire. Cut out the unnecessary things that fritter away your time, energy, and creativity.

If you truly want to achieve your dreams, you must make your dreams one of your highest priorities. Schedule time for them, and dedicate some of your energy to them.

You may also need to be cautious about sharing your goals with people who are negative and pour cold water on your dreams. Although these people often have the best intentions, their own limited thinking causes them to tell you things such as "You know that most home businesses fail" or "There's too much competition - you'll never be able to sell all that jewelry."

Don't believe these people. And don't tell them about your flowering dreams and goals.

Nurture your dreams and protect them from criticism and doubt. They tend to be fragile when they're in the creative stage, but as the seedlings of the life you want to live, they need your time, care and attention.

And sometimes we sabotage our own dreams by believing we don't deserve to achieve them. Please know that you DO deserve to achieve the things you want in your life - and you don't need anyone's permission.

See beyond the walls you envision around your life.

You are what you think you are - and you are not what you think you aren't. Think of yourself as being well on your way to being a successful jewelry artist, and you will be.

  4. Listen to your intuition.

Everyone has an inner knowing, or intuition. And the more you listen for it and heed what it tells you, the more you'll align yourself with achieving your purpose.

The best way to get in touch with your intuition is to still your mind and focus your attention inward. If you practice this mental stillness and relaxed inner focus regularly, you'll adjust your awareness to a higher degree of perception.

And in that perception lies the quiet inner voice that always steers you right. Often it can tell you with great accuracy things you have no outward way of knowing.

Unfortunately, the problem for most of us is that in our hectic modern life, it can be hard to hear your intuition. Rushing from one responsibility to the next from the time we get up in the morning till we fall back into bed at night keeps our minds in a constant state of chatter.

And modern technology in the form of TV, car radios, telephones, and noisy children's toys constantly bombards us, controlling our attention and focusing our mental energy outward instead of inward.

Try making a point of turning off those external attention-drainers as much as possible. Create some stillness in your day, and practice turning your focus inward. Just five minutes of meditation a day can really speed you on your way to a close connection with your intuition.

  5. Ask for assistance, and don't be attached to outcomes.

Ask your intuition to guide you toward achieving your dream. In prayer thank your Deity for assisting you. Ask your fellow humans for the particular things you need to reach your goals.

And when you ask for assistance, let go of controlling the situation yourself. Don't be attached to specific outcomes. When you ask for assistance, it may not come in exactly the form you expected it. In fact, usually it arrives in a far better form than you could have imagined on your own!

So instead of expecting a preconceived path to your goal, expect to be surprised and delighted at how your dream unfolds for you.

After you ask for assistance, don't forget to listen for answers. Be ready to pay attention to the subtle and surprising ways the things in your life flow into place to help you achieve your goals - and be prepared to flow along with them.

And don't forget to do your part to keep the flow of generosity moving. Help others whenever you have the opportunity. Participating in online jewelry forums is one great way to assist others who ask for help.

  6. Pour loving enthusiasm into your work toward your dream.

Love attracts abundance and support. Its powerfully positive vibration draws good things to its energy.

If you work toward your goal with love and enthusiasm, you cannot fail. As you work steadily on the tasks needed to fulfill your dream, fill each action and choice with love.

Do it because you love it, and cherish your enthusiasm for achieving your goal. Concentrate on the things that thrill and fulfill you about your chosen dream.

For more specific how-to information on manifesting your dreams, here are some outstanding books that I re-read often; check Amazon.com or Half.com for good used or new copies of them:

  • "Your Heart's Desire - Instructions for Creating the Life You Really Want" by Sonia Choquette.

  • "Row, Row, Row Your Boat - A Guide for Living Life in the Divine Flow" by Steven Lane Taylor.

I wish you much joy, abundance, and the life of your dreams! :o)

Neat Jewelry Related Website

Today's neat site is Archmaille handmade chainmaille jewelry and armor.

I chose this as a neat site because its webmaster, jewelry artist Cody Sortore, is just 19 years old - and creates a variety of beautiful chainmaille pieces. He has mastered more than 30 chainmaille patterns, including - as he says - some that "others dread to make (e.g. 6 in 1 European chainmail)". He often uses Japanese patterns, which are less common than European ones.

Visit Cody's About the Artist page to learn more about this rising star in the universe of jewelry art.
