Jewelry Business Success News, Issue #127 - A Jewelry "Trade-in" Promotion Idea
July 07, 2010

If this newsletter is difficult to read as an e-mail:

Read this issue online.

Welcome!

I'll start off with two good things to share with you today:

First, you can now post up to 4 photos instead of just 1 whenever you share your jewelry content here.

So please feel free to take advantage of the opportunity to include as many as 4 photos with your submissions. Go wild treating us to your jewelry eye candy! :o)

(If you'd like to include more than 4 photos, please just let me know and I'll add the extra images manually for you.)

And second, I'd like to share this comment posted on my Jewelry Display Ideas website by Carman from Ravenworks Online:

"Don't you just LOVE all the super creative people who pop into this site? I surely do. Keep up on the good works everyone... I love what you do."

My thoughts exactly, Carman!

Each project, photo, and idea shared here is a joy and inspiration to thousands of our fellow jewelry artists around the world!

~ Rena

Quick Tip:
Email Questions
and Online Jewelry Shoppers

Potential customers who are shopping online often email the seller with a question before making a purchase.

If the seller quickly answers the shopper's question in a detailed, friendly way, there's a good chance the shopper will wind up making a purchase.

As the seller, one of the keys here is that your reply doesn't focus on selling - but simply on providing helpful information.

These friendly customer-care email conversations help shoppers feel comfortable and non-pressured.

Email questions in your inbox nearly always provide an ideal opening to develop a trusting relationship with new potential customers.

And once you've built that relationship with someone who's interested in your jewelry, sales are much more likely to follow naturally - without any "selling" efforts on your part!

Your Profitable Jewelry Business:

Jewelry "Trade-in" Promotion Idea

by Rena Klingenberg

Here's a fun way to offer your customers a good deal - and get some unique jewelry supplies in exchange.

A few times each year, why not hold a "jewelry trade-in" event?

Offer your customers a nice discount on their purchase of your handmade jewelry - when they bring you a "trade-in" of vintage, broken, or unwearable jewelry that you could take apart for components in your own designs.

You could even specify certain types of used jewelry you're looking for - strung beads, necklaces, old watches (for steampunk jewelry), etc. Or just accept any treasures they bring to you!

You might offer a small discount (10%) for one piece of trade-in jewelry, and increase the discount a bit for bigger or more valuable trade-ins.

This is a fun type of promotion that gives customers a reason to clear out the jewelry they don't wear - which makes room for fresh new jewelry made by you!

Neat Jewelry-Related Website

This week's neat site is Risky Beads' Save the Gulf Jewelry, where jewelry artist Lori creates "accessories with issues".

Lori's newest line of stylish stamped metal jewelry promotes awareness of the tragic Gulf of Mexico oil spill, while raising funds to help birds drenched in oil from the spill.

Many people would love to be able to do something about this environmental disaster, but don't know how to help.

Handmade fundraiser jewelry like Lori's Save the Gulf line gives people a way to donate and spread the word of how others can also help.
