Your Profitable Jewelry Business:

A Jewelry Public Relations Lesson
from an Orthodontist

You can pick up a lot of clever marketing / public relations tips by observing what other one-person businesses do to promote themselves.

Here's a fantastic tip I learned by seeing one of the things a local orthodontist does to become known by parents whose kids are of braces-wearing age.

Grade-school kids are the target market for an orthodontist, since that's the age when most children with tooth issues get a consultation and start treatment for straightening their teeth.

So it's in an orthodontist's best interests to market his business to the parents of children in this age group.

Our town has a children's theatre group, where grade-school age kids perform in two or three plays each year. Each play runs for about a week, and a lot of people here go to see them.

Recently during the run of one of the children's plays in our town, I saw this orthodontist's smart public relations technique:

Right in the center of the lobby in the Little Theatre where the plays are held, was a beautiful and ENORMOUS bouquet arrangement of giant, fun gourmet lollipops in a vase. You couldn't possibly enter or leave the lobby without seeing this bouquet and wanting to get a closer look!

Beside the bouquet was a large, tastefully designed card congratulating the children who were in the play - and signed by the orthodontist, with his business info below.

Of course, all of the children's parents would attend the play at least once (most of them go to nearly every performance).

So this large, lovely lollipop bouquet, featuring the doctor's kind congratulations to their children, would be seen multiple times by the parents - who will certainly remember him when it comes time for their kids to get orthodontic work started!

How can you make a nice gesture that gets your jewelry business in front of your target market in a memorable way?
