Your Profitable Jewelry Business:

Finding Cheap Jewelry Business Supplies
at "Back to School" Sales

by Rena Klingenberg

In the “back to school” and “off to college” ads the stores are running right now, I noticed a lot of sale items that could be useful in a jewelry business.

Here are a few examples of useful, cheap treasures you might find:

  • Desk lamps you could use for lighting up your jewelry display (or your work area).
  • All sorts of storage bins, drawers, and cubes for organizing your jewelry supplies.
  • Crates, containers, and stackable small tables that could be used to create different levels in your jewelry display – and also to store and transport the things you take to your jewelry shows and parties.
  • Sheets of stickers – I write my jewelry prices on the smallest size of removable stickers, and stick them to my jewelry tags and earring cards.  When the item sells, I easily peel off the price sticker before packaging the jewelry.
  • Lap desks that would make a nicely portable, flat surface for jewelry making.
  • Office supplies for the “business” side of your jewelry business.

To find the back-to-school deals on these kinds of items in your area, check the websites and sale flyers of your local dollar stores, Walmart / Target type stores, office supply stores, etc.

I find that when these sales start, the sale items tend get rummaged through and "shopworn" in the stores pretty quickly, so you’ll have a better selection of undamaged stuff to choose from by shopping as soon as the sale starts.

Neat Jewelry-Related Website

Today's neat site is Lois Martens' Jewelry.

Lois calls her jewelry style "forms, reinvented". Currently she has three themes for her work - Icon Objects, Embedded, and Fold Forming.

Be sure to visit her excellent "Techniques" page - partly because her methods are so interesting, and partly because it's good inspiration for ways you can educate your own customers on the craft of your jewelry.

Sell Your Jewelry Online
